Last week my father and I were in the garage and he was feeding the raccoons (like he does), and then this hap
pened…
In case you were wondering, yes, just like the stereotype you would imagine for someone who feeds raccoons as a hobby, my dad grew up in middle-of-nowhere Wisconsin — in a forest — where he for awhile even had a pet deer. He’s also been known to let a muskrat live in the bathtub, provide a home for a crow with a broken wing (which he named Jake), and let a raccoon with distemper live in his home while he fed it and gave it medical treatment. The neighbors are actually ecstatic about his pastime because it keeps the raccoons from tipping their garbage cans over every week.

Every night my dad feeds the friendly neighborhood raccoons. He sets out dog food in our garage and usually 2-3 raccoons show up. On this particular night, “Patch” decided he wanted to take a whiff of my new boots.
