The $3000 Photo
My Canon 60D DSLR and all of the lenses and accessories I ordered last week showed up Friday, just in time for Saturday’s Oconomowoc’s Got Talent community talent show.
With my new camera, this photo is one of many that I was able to snap last night. Featured are a brother and sister who had just finished singing a duet.
During the applause the brother surprised his sister with a hug just before they took their bows.
This is the photo I’ll show people when they ask why on earth I would spend $3000 on a camera.

The last week I’ve been pretty busy. I did a 27-hour shift last Sunday to get a show struck out of the arts center. Then Tuesday through Friday I was busy in the evenings working a dance recital we loaded in, which loaded out just in time for last Saturday’s Feet Don’t Fail Me Now performance by Rhythmic Circus. The Circus loaded in Saturday at 10am, but I started setup at 7:30a. After the show was done at 10p I stayed until 5:30a Sunday morning to get the show struck out of there.

Between the dance recitals and FDFMN, I managed to take 1900 photos, which I very meticulously had to sort through, process, touch-up, and get uploaded for our clients to download and to have visible to the public on Flickr. Every chunk of ~600 photos took about 8 hours of processing, but I’m really proud of the way that they turned out even if it was a lot of work.

The summary of why I haven’t thrown much up on Tumblr this last week is that when I wasn’t working events, I was taking photos of them, and when I wasn’t taking photos of them, I was editing photos of them, and when I wasn’t doing that, I was sleeping.

Highlights of the photos I took last week are above, full sets for the dance events and Feet Don’t Fail Me Now are up on Flickr.
