This is what your iTunes equalizer should be set to. Whether you’re using your poor laptop speakers, the default Apple earbuds, or fine pieces of engineering from a company that gives a damn, this removes the ‘flatness’ of a dead EQ and makes whatever you’re listening to sound more like itself.

Agreed! I keep the preamp slightly lower and may eventually tweak a few of the settings but am generally impressed. If only it were possible [ahem, Apple] to run custom EQs natively on iPhone/iPad without having to preset all of one’s iTunes tracks.

Animal Collective sounds so pristine.

Hey, Matt… “this removes the ‘flatness’ of a dead EQ and makes whatever you’re listening to sound more like itself.” I say we switch.
[sarcasm_OFF]
To paraphrase Spinal Tap : How much more wrong could this be? None. There is none more wrong.

To say there is one EQ setting that resolves and perfects all mix issues, technical limitations, mechanical variations, speaker configurations, room sizes, headphone styles, etc, is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard.  To say nothing of using EQ to make something “sound more like itself”.
Also, you should always buy Monster cables because gold sheath resistance or something.

“But monster cables have higher quality copper than — you know, all other cables — and higher quality copper means higher quality stuff.”
